AIIMS Nagpur has launched

As part of Mental Health Week, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Nagpur has launched a novel initiative called "Mind Mela," which begins on October 3.  The medical professionals visited Bela village′s primary health centre (PHC) in Umred tehsil and examined locals′ mental health.

 

These outreach events initiated by AIIMS, to create awareness in rural population, about the services available at the premier medical institution, has enhanced the number of patients attending OPDs being organized by the institute.

 

Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar, the AIIMS medical director, stated that the psychiatric OPD at Bela PHC will be a long-term endeavor. The OPD will be open every month, on the first Wednesday and psychiatrists from AIIMS Nagpur will be assist patients in receiving free care under Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) of Maharashtra and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana of central government.

 

Dr. Deepak Selokar, the district health officer for Nagpur, complimented AIIMS Nagpur and stated that mental illness is becoming more common in rural regions due to stress and anxiety and that mental health issues are frequently disregarded.
